Beyond Fair-Trade Textiles & Other Magical Items from the Andes and Amazon
We invite you to be a part of our small project, rooted in our ancestral values of Ayni and Sumaq Kausay (Sacred Reciprocity & Collective Responsibility). Our dream was born from a deep desire to create a channel for dignified exchange and justice-centered commerce for ourselves and our communities as descendants of the Andes and Amazon. We hope to share with you the absolute beauty of our cultures and those of our surrounding communities. We are privileged to know and have close relationships with talented weavers, artisans, and designers in the Andes and Amazon of Peru and Bolivia, and hope to expand our project with your support. We see this work as sacred reconciliation with our Indigenous communities that have been harshly impacted by the legacy of colonialism and the introduction of Poverty. This work is an attempt to disconnect from the current accepted standard of exploitation of Indigenous labor and desire for cheap goods from the Global South. We feel it is time to repair in order to regain necessary harmony between each other.
All our textiles are handmade and can take months to a year to make. They hold oral traditions and stories that have been channeled through ancestral ways kept alive by weavers, elders and medicine people for hundreds of years. And are all made with hand-spooled yarn, sustainably harvested from sheep and alpaca, and naturally dyed with plants, seeds, fruits and woods through a meticulous and skilled process.
We wish you many blessings in your life and on your path. And we hope to be in touch as we learn with and from each other, how to negotiate in kinder and more equitable ways.
with love <3
